"Union for Human Rights": Zayed Humanitarian Work Day embodies the Emirati giving approach

Abu Dhabi, 8 March / WAM / The Union Society for Human Rights confirmed that Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which falls on the 19th of Ramadan every year, represents a renewed national milestone to recall the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul.”

The association explained that the UAE’s adoption of this day as an annual national occasion comes in revival of a well-established humanitarian approach based on establishing a culture of giving, supporting humanitarian and relief work, enhancing regional and international solidarity, and linking charitable work to the values ​​of sustainable development.

She stressed that the occasion does not represent just a remembrance, but rather a renewal of commitment to the principles established by Sheikh Zayed in consolidating the concept of institutional humanitarian work inside and outside the country.

The association stressed that the UAE continues to consolidate its position as one of the leading models in global humanitarian work. According to international development aid reports, the UAE is among the countries with the highest levels of aid in relation to its gross national income during the last decade.

The association noted that UAE aid focused on vital sectors including education, health care, food security, women’s empowerment, and support for stability and reconstruction, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and the principles of humanitarian action based on neutrality, impartiality and independence.

The Union Society for Human Rights affirmed that Zayed Humanitarian Work Day represents a practical embodiment of the link between humanitarian work and the protection of basic rights, calling for strengthening international solidarity to bridge the humanitarian gap and ensure the preservation of human dignity for all without exception.
