المملكة: A million riyals fine and cancellation of licenses… the penalty for operating the hostel outside the Hajj season

Warned Ministry of Tourism Operators of temporary hostels are subject to strict penalties of up to one million riyals and cancellation of their license if operating outside Hajj season, stressing the implementation of precise controls to ensure compliance and provide a service that elevates Guests of God.
The Ministry stressed the need to strictly adhere to the periods specified for operation, warning that any violation of hospitality activity after the end of the season will expose the establishment to huge financial fines and immediate cancellation of the license.
It explained that the pre-season stage is limited exclusively to preparing the buildings and completing the regulatory requirements, without allowing the reception of any visitors or the practice of actual operation.
Operating temporary inns
The Ministry indicated that It is mandatory to book an appointment in advance for a “preparedness visit”, to ensure that the hostel complies with the requirements before allowing it to enter service and receive pilgrims.
The regulations allowed the operation of temporary hostels during the period of the Hajj season only, provided that the controls and requirements of the granted license are strictly adhered to to ensure the safe conduct of operations. These buildings are pending the issuance of permits for the coming seasons.
These strict measures come under the slogan “Our guests are a priority,” in a regulatory effort aimed at governing the seasonal accommodation sector and raising the quality of services provided.
