The State Attorney General orders the arrest of (25) defendants of different nationalities and their referral to an urgent trial for publishing misleading content that harms defense measures and glorifies acts of military aggression against the state.

Abu Dhabi, 15 March / WAM / In continuation of the efforts to monitor and follow up on the misleading information and artificial content that is published or broadcast on digital platforms aimed at creating confusion, undermining public security and harming the security of the state. Counselor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi ordered the Attorney General of the State to arrest another group of (25) people of different nationalities and refer them to an urgent trial, after it was proven that they were involved in publishing and circulating digital content through a number of digital platforms that would mislead opinion. public and harm security and stability.

Investigations and electronic monitoring revealed that the defendants were divided into three groups that committed different acts, including publishing real clips related to current events, fabricating clips using artificial intelligence techniques, in addition to promoting a state that practices acts of military aggression, glorifying its leadership and military actions, and promoting and praising its military attacks on the state.

The first group: publishing real clips related to the attacks and their effects.

A number of defendants have published and circulated real video clips documenting the passage and interception of missiles in the skies of the country or the effects of their fall, in addition to filming gatherings of people to follow these events and attaching them to comments and sound effects that suggest the occurrence of attacks, which would raise anxiety and panic among members of society, in addition to the material that the circulation of these clips may provide that is used by hostile accounts to promote misleading narratives about the security situation in the country, as well as causing the exposure of some defensive capabilities and analysis of patterns of response to them.

The second group: publishing fabricated clips using artificial intelligence techniques.

The competent authorities monitored that a number of defendants published fabricated video clips created using artificial intelligence techniques, or re-published clips of events that occurred outside the country while claiming that they occurred inside it. These clips included artificial scenes of explosions, fires, rising columns of smoke, or missiles flying and falling in areas inside the country, while attaching the names of different emirates, state flags, or specific dates and times to give credibility to these false claims, which leads to misleading public opinion and spreading fear. And panic among members of society.

The third group: promoting a state that engages in hostile actions and glorifying its leadership and military activities.

Investigations revealed that a number of defendants published content that included glorifying a hostile country and its political and military leadership and promoting its military actions in the region by publishing clips and pictures that included praising the leaders of that country or calling for solidarity with it, in addition to publishing content that depicted the missile attacks as military achievements, as well as recirculating propaganda materials that serve the hostile media discourse and harm the national interest.

The Public Prosecution began investigating the defendants regarding the incidents attributed to them, and ordered their precautionary detention pending investigations.

The Public Prosecutor stressed that these actions constitute a grave violation of the provisions of the law and require taking the necessary penal measures against their perpetrators, as they cause misleading public opinion and cause unrest in society.

The Public Prosecutor stressed that exploiting cyberspace to publish or circulate misleading content or clips that would harm public security or harm the state’s defense capabilities, especially in light of the military attacks the state is facing, is considered criminal behavior and is subject to strict legal measures. He also stressed that anyone proven to be involved in such acts will be referred to the judiciary to receive the prescribed legal penalty, a penalty in accordance with the actions he has committed that involve misleading and exaggerating the facts without taking into account the state’s circumstances and requirements. Its security.
