Distance learning enhances the flexibility and sustainability of the educational system in the country

Abu Dhabi, March 22nd / WAM / The “distance learning” system in the UAE constitutes one of the basic pillars that guarantee the continuity of the educational process and the flexibility of implementing study plans in different circumstances. The country has a flexible and advanced educational system capable of quickly adapting to changes and emergencies without affecting the quality of education or the regularity of study.

The decision to continue distance learning in public and private schools for two weeks reflects the high level of readiness enjoyed by educational institutions and their ability to immediately move to alternative educational modes that ensure the continuation of learning smoothly.

The decision embodies the advanced capabilities that the UAE possesses in terms of digital infrastructure, which supports smart learning and allows students and teachers to continue the educational process efficiently from anywhere.

The roots of this transformation go back to a forward-looking vision that the UAE adopted years ago, as the year 2012 witnessed the launch of the Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Learning Initiative, which formed a fundamental pillar in the path of educational development in the country, and contributed to reformulating the educational environment within schools by introducing the concept of smart classrooms and the use of modern interactive technologies, in addition to developing an advanced electronic infrastructure that supports digital transformation in education.

The initiative included updating educational curricula to be compatible with modern technologies and enhance students’ thinking and innovation skills, as well as providing digital tools that allow parents to follow their children’s educational path and continuously communicate with schools and teachers.

These accumulated efforts have contributed to building an advanced smart education system that is among the most advanced in the world, which was clearly evident during the Corona pandemic period, when the UAE succeeded in implementing an integrated model of distance education that received wide praise from international educational institutions, due to its efficiency, flexibility, and continuity in providing education to students.

In the context of enhancing this approach and ensuring a safe digital educational environment, the state launched the “Aqdar for Digitally Safe Schools” initiative, which aims to establish an integrated digital protection system within schools, ensuring the safe use of modern technologies in the educational process.

Thanks to this initiative, the UAE has become the first country in the world to apply the digitally safe school concept to all its public and private schools, in accordance with European Union standards for safe internet.

The impact of digital educational initiatives in the country was not limited to the local level, but rather extended to the global level through innovative educational projects, the most prominent of which is the “Digital School”, which is the first integrated and accredited Arab digital school, providing distance education in flexible methods based on the latest innovation technologies and artificial intelligence.

This school provides the opportunity for students from all over the world to access qualitative education that keeps pace with the requirements of the future and enhances their abilities for self-learning and acquisition of advanced skills.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recommended the “Madrasa” platform as a reliable source of educational content in the Arabic language, as it provides high-quality educational materials covering various academic subjects and supports distance learning systems.

The organization indicated that the platform has a wide user base and contributes to supporting schools and teachers in providing education to students in the Arabic language via the Internet in different circumstances.

The UAE model in distance learning confirms that sustainable investment in digital education and smart technologies constitutes a solid foundation for ensuring continuity of learning and developing its outcomes. Over more than a decade, the country has succeeded in building a flexible educational system capable of facing challenges and providing quality education to students in accordance with the highest international standards.
