8 Saudi cities achieved a distinguished presence in The IMD Smart Cities Index for the year 2026 issued by the International Institute for Management Development, in an achievement that reflects the acceleration of the pace of development and the improvement of the quality of life in the Kingdom’s cities, within the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Riyadh advanced to 24th place globally after it was ranked 27th, while Mecca ranked 50th, Jeddah ranked 55th, Medina ranked 67th, and Al-Khobar ranked 64th.
It recorded Al-Ula made a qualitative leap, advancing from rank 112 to rank 85, indicative of the rapid development in its development and tourism projects.
The index witnessed the inclusion of both Hail and Hafr Al-Batin Governorate for the first time, as Hail achieved rank 33, while Hafr Al-Batin Governorate ranked 100, out of 148 cities in the world.
