Tomorrow, June 15, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development will implement the Prohibition of working in the sun in private sector establishments from 12 noon until 3 p.m., to protect workers from Heat stress.
The regulatory regulation, which was launched in partnership with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, will continue until next September 15, to ensure the provision of a safe work environment that complies with occupational safety standards and limits injuries.
Binding preventive directives
The Public Health Authority “Weqaya” issued binding preventive directives, requiring employers to schedule maintenance and repair work at less hot times, and to create shaded and cool places for rest periods. Intermittent.
The authority stressed the necessity of providing a continuous supply of cold water, obliging workers to drink four cups per hour, and appointing specialized supervisors to intervene quickly when any symptoms of heat exhaustion are detected.
The health instructions warned against consuming drinks rich in caffeine or sugars, directing field workers to wear light, loose clothing, and implementing plans to rotate workers between sites to reduce physical effort.
The Public Health Authority classified thermal danger indicators into Four levels, the first of which begins with a warning at temperatures below 32.7 degrees Celsius, and rises to the medium level when it ranges between 32.7 and 39.4 degrees.
Awareness campaigns
The guide specified the high risk level when the temperature reaches 46.1 degrees Celsius, while it peaks with a “high risk” classification when this barrier is exceeded, which imposes very strict precautionary measures to ensure the safety of lives.
In a related context, health gatherings intensify in Various regions launched summer awareness campaigns to publicize the dangers of sunstroke, and disseminate emergency instructions for cases of nosebleeds and drowning, coinciding with the increasing demand for water activities.
Awareness efforts included warning of the dangers associated with traveling for long periods, such as blood clotting, with a direct emphasis on the importance of practicing sports activities in enclosed, air-conditioned spaces to avoid peak times.
