Champions League: Arsenal advances to the semi-finals with a valuable win in Lisbon

Arsenal put England ahead in the semi-finals with its precious and deadly victory over its host Sporting of Portugal 1-0 on Tuesday at the Jose Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the European Champions League football competition.

Credit for the London club’s victory goes to the international substitutes, Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli and German Kai Havertz, with the former setting up the only goal in the match for the latter in the first minute of stoppage time.

The two teams will meet again next Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium in London.
