China demands that Iran restore normal navigation in the Strait of Hormuz

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi, during a phone call that took place between them on Wednesday, to make all possible efforts to return shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to normal.
According to a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, he stressed that while Iran’s sovereignty and security in the Strait of Hormuz must be respected and protected, freedom and safety of navigation through the waterway must also be guaranteed.
He explained that it is in the interest of the entire international community for shipping traffic to return to normal in the strait.
He pointed out that the situation is going through a decisive transformation stage and that the window for peace has begun to open.
