المملكة: Urgent: The Supreme Court declares Sunday the first of Dhul-Qa’dah and Saturday completing the month of Shawwal
The Crescents Chamber of the Supreme Court reviewed what it received from the courts regarding the sightings of the crescent of the month of Dhul-Qi’dah for the year 1447 AH on the evening of Friday the twenty-ninth of the month of Shawwal of the year 1447 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 4/17/2026 AD, and after reviewing the department’s information about what was received in this regard, it issued Resolution No. (206/AH) dated 10/29/1447 AH. What is included: The sighting of the crescent of the month of Dhu al-Qi’dah for the year 1447 AH on the evening of the aforementioned day has not been proven. Accordingly, the New Moons Chamber of the Supreme Court decided: that Saturday 11/1/1447 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 4/18/2026 AD, is the thirty days of the month of Shawwal of the year 1447 AH, and that Sunday 11/2/1447 AH – according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar – corresponding to 4/19/2026 AD. The beginning of the month of Dhul-Qi’dah of the year 1447 AH.
