Dubai Customs obtains three international accreditations from the Global Innovation Institute in the United States

DUBAI, 3rd May, 2018 (WAM) – Dubai Customs has obtained three prestigious international accreditations from the Global Innovation Institute in the United States of America, confirming once again its ability to develop an advanced customs work system based on innovation, proactiveness, and enhancing added value.
The three appropriations included specific projects that represent a qualitative leap in the development of services, which are the automation of the issuance of vehicle clearance certificates, the giant X-ray machine, and the certification service with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Two projects were classified within the second level, which focuses on developing services to increase competitive value, while the third project received the third level classification, which is the highest at the Institute, due to the strategic value it provides that contributes to expanding the scope of services and enhancing their future sustainability.
His Excellency Atiq Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Customs Development Sector at Dubai Customs, said that this achievement reflects the department’s ability to transform its strategic vision into tangible results, by adopting advanced digital solutions that contributed to raising operational efficiency, accelerating the procedures cycle, and enhancing the flow of trade movement, pointing out that the approved projects represent an advanced model in employing technology to support the business environment, and consolidating Dubai’s position as a pivotal global center in supply chains and international trade.
He explained that Dubai Customs is constantly working to develop an integrated system of digital services that keep pace with global changes and support the competitiveness of the national economy, noting that investing in innovation and developing institutional capabilities is an essential pillar for achieving global leadership and strengthening Dubai’s position as a leading commercial and logistics center.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Jumaa, Director of the Service Innovation Department at Dubai Customs, confirmed that this achievement reflects renewed international confidence in the department’s ability to develop its services according to the highest standards, indicating that it is moving steadily towards strengthening its global presence by investing in competencies and creating a work environment that stimulates creativity and supports the adoption of innovative solutions.
He said that Dubai Customs continues to implement ambitious development initiatives based on adopting the latest technologies and automating customs procedures, which contributes to enhancing the efficiency of operations and raising the level of customer satisfaction, in addition to supporting the directions of the Dubai government in providing proactive and innovative services that meet the aspirations of the future.
It is noteworthy that Dubai Customs had obtained the Accredited Government Institution Certificate – Excellence Level, from the same institute in 2023, making it the first government entity in the Emirate of Dubai and the first customs authority in the world to obtain this high international classification, in clear confirmation of its leadership in providing innovative government services based on international best practices.
