An agreement to explore opportunities to establish an alternative export gateway on the eastern coast of the Emirates

Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced the signing of a partnership agreement with Borouge PLC, to explore opportunities to expand the scope of cooperation between the two sides with the aim of enhancing the flexibility of export operations and raising operational efficiency.
The agreement paves the way for the two sides to cooperate in establishing an alternative international export gateway on the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates, to be a major center within Borouge PLC’s long-term export strategy. This initiative aims to ensure the continuity of export operations and enhance flexibility across the Borouge logistics network.
The cooperation will focus on benefiting from the strong maritime connectivity system provided by the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, in addition to accessing its integrated port services at Fujairah Ports, the group’s facility overlooking the eastern coast of the UAE, while studying the development of specialized polyolefin infrastructure on the eastern coast of the country.
The two sides will also work to evaluate ways to reduce dependence on crowded and limited sea lanes, and enhance the flexibility of ship movement scheduling and routes by cooperating with shipping lines to activate new shipping routes through Fujairah ports. Together, these efforts aim to support stable and reliable export flows through a diverse network of ports and logistics facilities.
Saif Al Mazrouei, CEO of the Ports Sector, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said on this occasion that the group is looking forward to exploring opportunities for cooperation with Borouge in order to benefit from the integrated capabilities provided by Abu Dhabi Ports Group in the fields of ports and logistics services, with the aim of supporting vital industrial exports and enhancing regional and global trade connectivity, in line with the vision of our wise leadership.
For his part, CEO of Borouge PLC, Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, said that this strategic partnership constitutes an important step towards enhancing Borouge’s logistical capabilities and supporting its continued growth process, pointing out that work will be done through cooperation with Abu Dhabi Ports Group, to build a more flexible and diversified network that enhances reliability, ensures continuity of supplies, and consolidates the company’s position as a reliable global supplier, in a way that supports the country’s industrial strategy.
Borouge is the largest exporter through the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, and this cooperation is based on a long-term partnership between the two sides since 2001.
