Dubai strengthens its leadership in friendly transportation for people of determination through 152 facilities

Dubai, June 8 / WAM / The Emirate of Dubai represents one of the leading global models in providing a friendly transportation system for people of determination, based on adapted infrastructure, smart solutions, and integrated services that take into account various needs and ensure ease of access and movement.

This approach embodies a firm commitment to promoting the principles of inclusivity and enabling people of determination to participate effectively in society independently and safely.

In this context, the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai provided a comprehensive service environment that includes 152 fully equipped buildings and facilities, while more than 163,000 users of people of determination benefited from public transportation services in the emirate, in a direct reflection of the success of the efforts aimed at enhancing inclusiveness and quality of life.

Abdul Rahman Al Janahi, Director of Facilities and Facilities Management in the Institutional Administrative Support Sector at the Authority, said that all of the Authority’s buildings and facilities are fully prepared to provide an integrated service environment for people of determination, taking into account their various needs.

He explained that public transportation in the emirate has witnessed a remarkable growth in the number of people of determination who use it, as the number of people of determination using the Dubai Metro and tram exceeded 110,000 passengers, while the number of public bus users exceeded 49,000 passengers, in addition to more than 4,000 users of marine transportation.

He added that the Authority relies in designing its projects and facilities on comprehensive standards that ensure ease of access and use for all, as the needs of people of determination are integrated into integrated transportation plans and updated continuously in accordance with international best practices, ensuring the provision of a safe and sustainable transportation environment that meets the requirements of various segments of society.

He pointed out that the authority is working to rehabilitate road facilities, public squares, crossings, sidewalks, ramps, parking lots, elevators, directional signs, safety elements and smart traffic signals in a way that suits the needs of people of determination, and enhances their ability to move around and reach various destinations easily and independently.

In the context of developing the customer experience, the Authority launched a number of qualitative initiatives, the most prominent of which is the “Sensory Room,” which provides a supportive environment for children with autism, and contributes to providing a more comfortable and smooth transportation experience, as part of the Authority’s direction towards providing innovative services that take into account the diverse needs of customers and enhance the integration of people of determination into society.

Al-Janahi stressed that the Authority adopts a number of tools to measure happiness and satisfaction for the categories concerned with people of determination, including indicators of the happiness of customers, employees and their families, which allows the level of services provided to be evaluated and developed on an ongoing basis based on the needs of the beneficiaries and their observations.

The Authority provides a set of exemptions and facilities for people of determination, including a complete exemption from Salik transit fees, vehicle registration and renewal fees, and fees for using public transportation via the Nol card, in addition to a complete exemption from parking fees for a period of three years, and a 50% exemption from fees for driver licensing services and the fare for transportation in Dubai taxi vehicles.

Regarding the parking lots designated for people of determination, Al Janahi explained that during the year 2025, the Authority issued about 9,401 permits to benefit from these parking lots, while periodic monitoring campaigns are carried out to ensure that they are used by those who are eligible only, and the necessary measures are taken against violators.

He pointed out that the authority is expanding the use of smart solutions to facilitate people of determination’s access to its services through the website and the ART DUBAI application “Suhail” and the automated chat “Mahboob,” in addition to self-service devices designed with heights and spaces suitable for wheelchair users.

He added that the self-service machines are equipped with features that support people with visual impairment, including Braille on the buttons, voice instructions, and speakers for completing transactions, ensuring a more comprehensive and easier user experience.
