The Supreme Legislation Committee in Dubai celebrates the twelfth anniversary of its founding

DUBAI, 9 JUNE / WAM / Dr. Ahmed Saeed bin Mishar, Secretary-General of the Supreme Legislation Committee, confirmed that the establishment of the committee in the Emirate of Dubai 12 years ago constituted a turning point in the process of national legislative and institutional work. It paved the way for a qualitative shift in the mechanisms for reviewing legislation, evaluating its impact, and aligning it with the ambitious development goals of the Emirate of Dubai, as a translation of the forward-looking vision and sound directives of the wise leadership in improving the efficiency of the legislative system.
This came in a speech during the celebration of the General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai of the twelfth anniversary of the founding of the committee, through a special event held under the slogan “Legislation that Empowers Society and Enhances Its Happiness,” in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Saeed bin Meshar, and Mohammed Juma Al Suwaidi, Assistant Secretary-General, along with the leaders and cadres of the General Secretariat.
Dr. Ahmed Saeed bin Meshar pointed out that the committee is a pioneering institutional and legislative edifice, whose roots go back to the era of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, may God have mercy on him, when the Office of the Legal Advisor of the Government of Dubai was established, through the establishment of the Department of Legal Affairs of the Government of Dubai, all the way to the stage of legislative modernization that culminated in the decree of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, in 2014. The celebration highlighted the successive successes achieved by the Supreme Legislation Committee over the past years, most notably receiving the medal of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in appreciation of the committee’s efforts in negotiating comprehensive economic partnership agreements, and achieving qualitative leaps in various priority tracks, as the number of local legislation issued increased from 49 legislation in 2015 to 373 legislation in 2025, a growth of 661%, in addition to Legislative oversight reports moved from zero to 61 annual reports covering 52 government agencies, and the average happiness of government agencies over five years reached 95%.
