The UAE participates in the third meeting of transport ministers "Brix" In India
Nagpur, India, July 20 / WAM / The United Arab Emirates, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, participated in the third meeting of transport ministers of the BRICS countries, which was hosted by the city of Nagpur in the Republic of India, with the participation of ministers and transport officials from member states, as part of the Republic of India’s presidency of the group for the year 2026, under the slogan “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”. The UAE delegation was headed by His Excellency Sheikh Nasser Al Qasimi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Infrastructure and Transport Regulation Sector in the Ministry.
The UAE delegation also participated in the meeting sessions, which discussed a number of strategic topics related to developing sustainable transportation, promoting innovation, decarbonizing the transportation sector, developing smart urban mobility solutions, raising the efficiency of supply chains and logistics services, and expanding research and technical cooperation among member states.
The transport ministers of the BRICS countries approved the final declaration of the meeting, which included a road map to enhance cooperation between member states in the transport sector, and identified a number of strategic priorities, including developing sustainable infrastructure, applying the principles of the circular economy in the transport sector, promoting the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), reducing carbon emissions, developing urban transport centres, raising the efficiency of supply chains and logistics services, in addition to establishing a railway research network among the group’s countries.
The UAE’s participation comes within the framework of its keenness to enhance international cooperation and exchange experiences and best practices in the fields of transportation and infrastructure, in a way that supports efforts to develop a sustainable and integrated transportation system, and keeps pace with its national goals in this vital sector.
