Abu Dhabi promotes smart healthcare by completing the establishment of 12 disease registries

ABU DHABI, July 20 / WAM / The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Health Data Services Company, affiliated with the M42 Group, completed the establishment of 12 disease registries, in a step that enhances a smart and proactive health system based on data, and supports preventive and personal care, by tracking the rates of spread and incidence of diseases, their trends, and related demographic links, which contributes to improving health care outcomes, enhancing prevention, and supporting diagnosis and early intervention.

Disease registries represent integrated digital systems that collect patient data, including diagnoses, examinations, and treatments, to support decision-makers and policy makers in planning and allocating resources, monitoring community health indicators, identifying groups most at risk, and designing targeted preventive interventions, in addition to enhancing scientific research and understanding disease patterns to develop more innovative and effective health solutions.

The records include priority health diseases in the emirate, namely mental health, obesity, diabetes, cancer, screening programs, cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, rare diseases, and assisted reproductive technologies and treatments, and are completely automated by integrating data from the Abu Dhabi Health Information Exchange platform “Malfi.”

Records are a valuable resource for public health initiatives; It supports tracking disease patterns, policy making, improving the efficiency of health programmes, and strengthening health campaigns and screening programmes.

The next phase will witness the integration of artificial intelligence technologies into the smart analysis platform for population health, the expansion of data sets, and the integration with the “Sehtna” application integrated with the “Tamm” platform, which will enhance patient participation and ease of access to digital services, and support predictive analysis to detect disease patterns, improve diagnosis and care pathways, identify groups most at risk, and enable early intervention, which will reflect positively on health care outcomes in the emirate.

Her Excellency Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, stressed that improving the health care system begins with a deeper understanding of society’s needs, and that maximizing the use of health data enhances the system’s ability to prevent, respond, and make evidence-based decisions, noting that completing disease records represents an important step towards building a more proactive and personalized health system, based on knowledge and harnessing it to serve humanity.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Rashid Obaid Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, stressed that disease records represent a strategic pillar that doubles the system’s capabilities to monitor epidemiological patterns and decipher community health trends, paving the way for designing specific and targeted preventive programs that improve the quality of life.

He pointed out that optimal investment in accurate and immediate data gives decision-makers a proactive vision to support health policies and raise the efficiency of distributing medical resources, in addition to implementing crucial therapeutic and preventive interventions at the appropriate time, which reflects positively on sustainable health outcomes and results throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
