Estonia sees inflation fall to 3.7% in November

Preliminary data issued by the Statistics Authority of Estonia, today, Friday, showed that the rate of consumer prices in the country declined during the month of November, after an increase in the previous month. Consumer prices rose by 3.7%, on an annual basis, last month, after a 4.1% rise last October.

Reasons for decline

The slowdown in inflation was mainly due to lower prices for international flights and holiday travel, which rose in October due to school holidays.
“The index was also affected by a decline in rental prices and electricity bills compared to October,” said Lauri Fiske, chief analyst at Statistics Estonia. “Food and beverage prices rose by 5.4%, while clothing and footwear prices fell by 0.2%.”
The data showed that transportation fees increased by only 0.4%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.4% in November, compared to an increase of 0.6% in the previous month.
