90,000 beneficiaries of Dubai Customs’ volunteer initiatives within 9 months

Dubai, December 9 / WAM / The number of beneficiaries of Dubai Customs Department’s volunteer initiatives reached more than 90,000 beneficiaries during the first nine months of this year, as the Department implemented 23 volunteer initiatives in various societal fields.
According to a press release issued today, the number of volunteer hours amounted to more than 3,000 volunteer hours for 669 volunteers from Dubai Customs employees.
Khalil Saqr bin Gharib, Director of the Corporate Communications Department at Dubai Customs, said that volunteer work is an essential pillar, as Dubai Customs has established a framework for volunteer work in accordance with international best practices to promote community solidarity and sustainable development in society, as volunteer initiatives contribute to improving the lives of individuals through… Providing support to the most needy groups, in addition to enhancing belonging and a sense of responsibility among volunteers, in cooperation with Dubai Customs’ strategic partners and accredited charities in the country.
For his part, Fouad Al Shehhi, head of the Ghayath Volunteer Team at Dubai Customs, said that volunteer work has opened new horizons in the department for employees to actively participate and create a societal impact in promoting the culture of volunteering.
He pointed out the diversity of initiatives implemented by the team, which include health and awareness initiatives in support of employees, senior citizens, and people of determination, as well as community initiatives such as distributing iftar meals during the month of Ramadan and the Ramadan Meer, in addition to the participation of the Ghayath team in times of crises and emergencies, and assisting the official committees in the emirate.
