“Jeddah Municipality” intensifies health control over food establishments

The Jeddah Governorate Municipality has intensified health control work on food and commercial establishments, coinciding with the summer season of 2026, as part of an integrated field plan aimed at enhancing food safety, protecting public health, and raising the level of compliance with municipal and health requirements, in a way that keeps pace with the active tourism movement and the increasing demand for entertainment facilities and marine destinations in the governorate.
The supervisory teams carry out continuous field tours covering restaurants, cafes, central markets, food selling and trading shops, and food preparation and processing facilities, in addition to seasonal sales outlets. To verify the safety of food products, their suitability for consumption, preservation and storage methods, the efficiency of cold chains, the level of cleanliness and sterilization, and workers’ adherence to approved health requirements.
Oversight work includes following up on the implementation of municipal and health requirements, monitoring violations, and taking legal measures against non-compliant establishments, which contributes to enhancing compliance, reducing health risks, raising the level of food safety, and the quality of services provided to consumers.
The control campaigns keep pace with the intensity witnessed by the city of Jeddah during the summer season, in light of the diversity of tourism and entertainment events and activities, and the high demand for restaurants, cafes, waterfronts and shopping centres, which reinforces the importance of proactive control to ensure the provision of a healthy and safe environment for residents and visitors.
In implementing its oversight plan, the Jeddah Governorate Municipality relies on an integrated operational system supported by digital solutions, which contributes to raising the efficiency of facility follow-up, quickly processing reports, analyzing compliance indicators, and directing field teams according to oversight priorities, in a way that enhances performance efficiency and improves the quality of municipal services.
These efforts are an extension of the Secretariat’s programs aimed at promoting public health, establishing food safety standards, and improving the quality of life, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, and enhancing Jeddah’s position as a tourist and entertainment destination that provides municipal and health services according to the highest quality standards.
