87 thousand people evacuated after a volcano eruption in the Philippines

The Philippine authorities evacuated about 87,000 people in the central Philippines, today, a day after the eruption of the Canlaon volcano, which released a column of ash and extremely hot gases, and masses of debris fell on the western slopes of the region.
The latest eruption of the Canlaon volcano on the central island of Negros did not cause any direct casualties, but the warning level was raised by one level, indicating the possibility of more powerful and explosive volcanic eruptions.
At least six domestic flights were cancelled, in addition to one international flight bound for Singapore, and two local flights were diverted in the region on Monday and Tuesday due to the Canlaon eruption, according to the Philippine Civil Aviation Authority.
It is noteworthy that volcanic ash fell over a wide area, including Antique Province, which is more than 200 kilometers across marine waters west of the volcano, reducing visibility and threatening the health of residents, according to the Philippines’ chief volcanologist, Teresito Bakulcol, and other officials.
