Under the guidance and sponsorship of Ahmed bin Mohammed.. the launch of “Shetta Hatta” as part of the “Dubai Destinations” campaign

Under the directives and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, and under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for Supervising the Development of the Hatta Region, Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Dubai Government Media Office, announced the launch of the “Chatta Hatta” initiative. As part of the “#Dubai_Destinations” campaign, during the period from Friday, December 13, until Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
The details of the “Shetta Hatta” initiative, which Brand Dubai is implementing in partnership with a number of government agencies in Dubai, were announced during a press conference held today at the headquarters of the Dubai Government Media Office, during which Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, spoke. Director General of the Dubai Government Media Office, in the presence of officials and representatives of the partner entities in organizing the event, which this year will include 5 festivals, namely: “Shatana Fi” Festival Hatta, Hatta Honey Festival, Hatta Agricultural Festival, Hatta Cultural Nights Festival and Hatta DSF X Festival.
The events falling under the umbrella of “Shetta Hatta” come through cooperation between “Brand Dubai” and: the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority “Dubai Culture”, the Dubai Sports Council, and the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, and includes a package A variety of community, cultural, sports and entertainment activities specially designed to suit all family members of different age groups.
On this occasion, Her Excellency Mona Al Marri stressed the importance of the initiative, which comes within the framework of supporting the outcomes of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, with regard to the Hatta region, in terms of enhancing its competitiveness as a distinguished tourist destination, opening more opportunities for the private sector and entrepreneurs, and supporting local projects for the people of the region. In addition to the impact of the initiative in providing a diverse program full of cultural, recreational and sporting activities for the people of Hatta and its visitors, the event contributes to shedding more light on the nature of the region and its heritage. And its picturesque nature, and the festival is an opportunity for families to enjoy all these features and the entertainment, cultural, sports and community activities that the event will include.
Her Excellency expressed her deep gratitude and appreciation for the cooperation and support provided by the Supreme Committee to Supervise the Development of the Hatta Region, appreciating the efforts of all partners, which united in order to achieve one goal, which is the success of the event and its objectives, which in their entirety support the Hatta Region Development Plan, the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, as well as the two agendas. During the press conference, Her Excellency Mona Al-Marri said: “The first session of the “Shetta Hatta” project achieved great success over two weeks of events, and in view of the remarkable demand from visitors, which exceeded the local attendance to various Arab and Gulf countries, the organizing committee for the event decided to cooperate and supervise.” The Supreme Committee for Supervising the Development of the Hatta Region extended the period of events this year for more than a full month, allowing the largest number of visitors to enjoy the atmosphere of Hatta and its picturesque nature through various events and activities. Her Excellency added, “During the past year, the number of visitors to the event areas in the Hatta region exceeded 500,000 visitors from within the Emirates and from various Arab Gulf countries, while the number of events reached 50 various activities that lasted for two weeks, in addition to 100 workshops. The number of volunteers also exceeded more than 45 volunteers, most of whom are young people,” pointing out that this year will witness the launch of a marketing and promotional campaign for the region as a whole through a media and marketing program that highlights the region’s status and serves its people through promotion. For his part, Hussein Al-Banna, Executive Director of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority, and head of the executive team for the development of the Hatta region, said: “The Supreme Committee for Supervising the Development of the Hatta Region was headed by His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, in cooperation with Partners from the relevant government agencies in the emirate implemented 41 development projects in Hatta during the last period, and work is underway to implement 24 projects, within the framework of the strategy aimed at strengthening the infrastructure. Achieving comprehensive development of the region, in a way that serves Dubai’s social agenda and enhances its attractiveness as an exceptional tourist destination, distinguished by its nature and entertainment destinations.”
He added, “The Authority was keen to strengthen the road and transportation network, and provide collective and flexible mobility solutions, in addition to providing full support during the period of festivals, activities and events that are held in Hatta, specifically within the “Sheta Hatta”, where the Authority organizes trips on the Hop On Hop Off lines.
“29 trips per day” on the most important tourist attractions in the Hatta region, in addition to providing the “Hatta Express” bus service, with an average of 14 trips to visit Hatta, starting from Dubai to Hatta directly. In the current session, the authority has also allocated more than 1,100 parking spots to serve the public, and provided 17 buses. For internal transportation from the parking lots to the event site, in addition to internal transportation buses to transport visitors to the top of the Hatta Dam area, in addition to the presence of a work team to manage crowds and ensure the smooth flow of traffic throughout the festival period.”
Regarding the activities and objectives of both the “Hatta Honey” and “Hatta Agricultural” festivals, Ahmed Al Zarouni, Director of the Public Parks and Recreational Facilities Department at Dubai Municipality, said that Dubai Municipality will organize the ninth season of the Hatta Honey Festival, the most prominent annual event to support Emirati beekeepers and the honey production sector across the country. At the state level, between December 27 and 31, 2024, with the participation of 51 Emirati beekeepers, in conjunction with the “Shatta Hatta” initiative, and we seek to make the festival a platform Integrated to support Emirati beekeepers and provide them with the opportunity to display and market their products, as well as exchange experiences in the field of honey production.
The municipality is completing all preparations for the festival to ensure the provision of the best facilities and services that enhance the experience of visitors and participants in the Hatta region, which is distinguished by its nature, picturesque terrain, and winter atmosphere, which is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the emirate.
The municipality will also organize the Hatta Agricultural Festival, which represents an integrated event to support citizen farmers and the agricultural system in the emirate, and improve the ability of farms to achieve self-sufficiency and economic sufficiency. The festival will start on January 18 and will continue until January 22, 2025, in the Lim Lake area, where 25 booths will be allocated to farmers and 5 for accompanying activities, including food and others.
The Hatta Agricultural Festival supports national farmers who own productive agricultural projects, by providing kiosks for farmers to display their products, and providing multiple services and facilities to farmers in the Hatta region and farm owners, with the aim of encouraging them and enhancing and developing the capabilities of high-quality and sustainable agricultural production that supports the food security system.
