المملكة: The Kingdom demands a ceasefire in Gaza and support for UNRWA
Ambassador Al-Wasel said in a statement he delivered before the United Nations General Assembly at its resumed tenth emergency special session on Palestine to consider the two resolutions submitted to the General Assembly regarding support for UNRWA and the demand for a ceasefire in Gaza: The arbitrary use of the veto and the selectivity in applying international law contributed to the continuation of the genocidal war and continued With the Israeli crimes in Gaza and the expansion of the aggression, demanding a ceasefire in Gaza, and welcoming the ceasefire in Lebanon. And denounce the Israeli violations.
Ceasefire in Gaza
The statement stressed the vital role of UNRWA and condemned the Israeli legislation against it and the systematic targeting of it, calling for active participation in the high-level international conference to settle the Palestinian issue, which will be held next June in New York City under the joint chairmanship of the Kingdom and France.
He also affirmed firm support for the Palestinian people and their rights, noting that peace is the strategic choice on the basis of the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
Arabism of the occupied Golan
The Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York expressed his condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, which confirm Israel’s continued violation of international law and its intention to sabotage Syria’s chances of restoring its security, stability and territorial integrity, and affirming the Arab identity and Syrianness of the occupied Golan.
The delegation voted in favor of the two resolutions, as the result of voting on the resolution to support UNRWA was (159) votes in favor of the draft resolution, and (9) votes against the draft resolution, while (11) countries voted to abstain. As for the draft resolution related to the ceasefire in Gaza, It received (158) votes in favor and (9) votes against it, while (13) countries voted to abstain.
