Al-Ahly and Esperance…an Arab summit in front of silent stands

Today (23:00 UAE time), Cairo International Stadium is witnessing an exceptional match awaited by all African fans, as Al-Ahly of Egypt seeks to compensate for its loss in the first leg with a clean goal against Esperance of Tunisia, which aspires to reach the semi-finals of the African Champions League football competition, by maintaining its superiority.

The conflict intensifies in two other Arab confrontations after the result of a 1-1 draw in the first leg, and it concerns the confrontations of Egyptian champion Pyramids with the Royal Moroccan Army, and Sudanese Al-Hilal with Morocco’s Nahdet Berkane.

Attention will once again turn to the North African “Clasico” between Al-Ahly of Egypt, the holder of the title 12 times, most recently in 2024, and its guest, Esperance, aspiring for the fifth title in its history and the first since 2019, when they face off at the Cairo International Stadium in front of silent stands, as a punishment from the African Union against the “Club of the Century” due to the events of its match against the Royal Army in the group stage.

The Tunisian team won the first leg thanks to a penalty kick scored by Algerian international Mohamed Amine Tougay.
