Launching an initiative "Business stars" To promote student projects in Sharjah

Sharjah, December 13 / WAM / The 11th edition of the annual student initiative “Business Stars” was launched yesterday evening, organized by the Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurial Projects “Ruwad” of the Sharjah Department of Economic Development, as part of the activities of the 13th Suburbs Festival held in Al Qarayen Park 4. In the city of Sharjah.
The opening was attended by His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah, Fatima Al Ali, Director of the Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurial Projects “Ruwad” by commission, directors of relevant departments in the Foundation, members of the event’s organizing committee, and a group of visitors.
In its current version, this community initiative includes 40 student projects in the field of entrepreneurship with the participation of 80 male and female students from a number of schools, universities and colleges in the country.
The organizing committee allocated the period from 12 to 18 December of this year for projects by groups of school students in the basic education stages, the first and second cycles, for the age group of 10-15 years. As for the participation of projects by groups of students in the secondary stage (the third cycle) and universities for the age group of 16-21 years, they will be in the period. From the 19th to the 25th of the same month.
In addition to student projects, the initiative includes presenting performances by entertainment bands and artistic and educational workshops for visitors, in cooperation with a group of pioneering projects that are members of the Foundation.
During his tour, His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud reviewed the participating student projects and the products presented by the students, and heard from them the entrepreneurial ideas that they seek to transform and transfer into initial initiatives and models for small projects that pave the way for them to enter the world of entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Al Mahmoud praised the creative projects presented by the participating students, and their keenness for excellence and leadership, through commercial projects that translate their various ambitions, qualifying them to become owners of successful companies through which they contribute to serving their community, building their country, and promoting the comprehensive economic renaissance in the Emirate of Sharjah.
He stressed that the Business Stars Initiative is considered one of the most important unique incubators and successful platforms in creating a stimulating environment for school and university students, and providing them with the necessary support in order to enrich their desires and creative aspirations to employ their entrepreneurial skills and translate them into pioneering projects.
For her part, Fatima Al Ali expressed her aspiration to organize a distinguished version of the initiative, in line with the visions of the “Ruwad” Foundation and its objectives in spreading the culture of entrepreneurship, deepening the idea of private business among students, developing commercial behavior among them, and encouraging entrepreneurs to create innovative ideas and refine Their administrative and leadership skills and capabilities, as they are the next generation that will lead development and innovation in society. The initiative also strengthens institutional and community partnerships between schools, universities, families and government institutions.
She indicated that a daily evaluation of the participating projects will be conducted by specialized arbitrators, so that a set of evaluation criteria will be applied, namely the standards of innovation, financial management, marketing, and the level of compliance with the specified conditions.
She pointed out that the students who owned the participating projects underwent a series of introductory and guidance workshops before launching the initiative, to ensure the success of their participation and enhance the opportunities to market their products and services at the optimal level, stressing that all procedures were taken into account that guarantee the safety and security standards for participants and visitors, as well as the safety of the kiosks, including the goods and products they contain. .
