An Arab resolution condemning Israel’s incursion into the buffer zone with Syria

At the initiative of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and in cooperation with a number of sister countries, the Council of the League of Arab States held a meeting this evening to formulate a unified Arab position regarding the Israeli army’s occupation of additional lands in the occupied Syrian Golan.

This meeting resulted in the issuance of an Arab resolution condemning Israel’s incursion into the buffer zone with the Syrian Arab Republic and a series of neighboring sites in Mount Hermon and the Quneitra and rural governorates. Damascus, considering this a violation of the disengagement agreement concluded between Syria and Israel in 1974. From this standpoint; The Arab resolution stressed that the aforementioned agreement remains in effect in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 350 issued in the same year, and thus the impact of that agreement on the political change that Syria is currently witnessing.

 

   The resolution also condemned the ongoing Israeli raids on a number of Syrian civilian and military sites, noting that the meeting of permanent delegates stressed that the Golan Heights is Syrian Arab land, and will remain so forever.

 

< p>In this context, the resolution called on the international community to oblige Israel; As the occupying power, in compliance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions; Especially Security Council Resolution No. 497 of 1981; Which demands that Israel withdraw from the occupied Syrian Golan.

 

Based on the above; According to this resolution, the Arab group in New York was assigned to move to hold a special session in the Security Council to discuss Israeli practices that threaten international peace and security. Including the new occupation of Syrian lands into which Israel has penetrated since December 8th.
