King Abdullah Medical Complex in Jeddah saves the life of a twenty-year-old who fell from a height of 8 meters

A medical team specialized in urology at King Abdullah Medical Complex, one of the components of the Second Jeddah Health Cluster, succeeded in saving the life of a 27-year-old young man, after he was exposed to a fall from a height of 8 meters, which led to him sustaining severe injuries that posed a direct threat to his life.
Immediately upon the injured person’s arrival at the complex’s emergency and accident department, the process of dealing with critical injuries was activated, his condition was immediately evaluated, and all necessary accurate medical examinations were conducted, which showed the presence of a complete laceration of the right kidney, severe injuries to the artery and vein supplying the kidney, and an injury to one of the main veins inside the abdomen, which resulted in severe internal bleeding that required immediate surgical intervention to save his life.
Head of the Urology Department, Dr. Badr Saadawi, led an integrated medical team that began performing a delicate and urgent surgery that lasted 80 minutes, with the participation of urology consultant Dr. Ihab Abdel Moneim, and vascular surgery consultant Dr. Hossam Hawam, in addition to the participation of specialized teams in anesthesia and nursing.
The medical team was able to successfully control the internal bleeding completely, repair the damaged blood vessels, and remove the kidney affected by the complete rupture, achieving complete success, which contributed to saving the injured person’s life and stabilizing his health condition, without recording any significant complications, while he currently continues to receive the necessary medical care according to an integrated treatment plan to ensure his complete recovery and leaves the hospital in perfect health.
