Director Omar Bakri: Abdo and Sania is the result of my love for silent films

Director Omar Bakri expressed his happiness at choosing to screen his film at the festival, saying, " The current audience has not seen enough silent films, and many have never had this experience, and I believe that the audience can find great pleasure if they are exposed to it, and my deepest desire was to create a contemporary story using this traditional art form in the hope of affecting people in a way that they had forgotten. Bakri added " I loved silent films from a young age, and I grew up watching Charlie Chaplin films, which contributed to the formation of something great in me through them, which also motivated me to present the experience of the film “Abdo and Sania.” In the style of black and white.” For his part, Salah Anwar, the editor of the work, explained that the film’s events take place entirely in silence, and relies entirely on the image in addition to the music, which is considered the basic material for expressing the film’s story and narrating its events, pointing out that some considered it a big risk.
 
Angie El-Gammal, the heroine of the work and participating in its production, explained that her biggest challenge in the film was trying to reconcile her personal tasks in her home with Filming and its requirements made her feel a lot of effort.
 
The film was written and directed by Omar Bakri, starring Engy El Gamal, alongside Roger Hendrix Simon and Marilyn Villafane, and a group of people participate in the work. It includes prominent names in the fields of photography, editing and artistic production, such as director of photography Vicente Roxas, editor Salah Anwar, and musician Alexandre Azaria. The film is a joint production between Film Clinic (Mohamed Hefzy), Chaconia Pictures, and Timewormz.
