Under this agreement, which extends for 15 years to supply 600,000 metric tons annually of liquefied natural gas, the main terms agreement that was previously signed between the two parties was transformed into a binding agreement.
The shipments will be primarily from ADNOC’s Ruwais low-emissions LNG project, which is currently being developed in the Ruwais Industrial City in Abu Dhabi.
It is expected that gas shipments will begin in 2028 after the project begins commercial operations in the same year.
It is noteworthy that, so far, a commitment has been made to sell more than 8 million metric tons of gas annually to international customers under long-term agreements.
This agreement is the second sale and purchase agreement signed by ADNOC with a German company to supply natural gas from the Ruwais low-emission liquefied natural gas project.
Last November, ADNOC signed a 15-year agreement to supply one million metric tons annually with Sivvi Trading and Marketing (Singapore) PTI Limited, a subsidiary of Sivvi Energy Insurance for Europe Gmbh.

She explained that this agreement comes within the framework of the “Strategic Agreement for Cooperation in the Field of Energy Security and Industrial Growth Accelerators” (ESIA), which was signed by the UAE and Germany in 2022 with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of energy security, reducing emissions, and low-carbon fuels, noting that the agreement It contributes to strengthening the joint declaration of intent signed in February 2024, between the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and the German state of Baden-Württemberg regarding enhancing cooperation in the field of sustainable energy.
Peter Heidke, a member of the Board of Directors at NBW Sustainable Generation Infrastructure, said that concluding a long-term contract with ADNOC is an important step in strengthening the cooperation relations between the two parties and diversifying NBW’s purchasing portfolio from This supplier stressed the continuation of cooperation with ADNOC to develop other opportunities in the field of liquefied natural gas and related businesses, and expressed his aspiration for long-term cooperation relations that achieve mutual interests and support the success of the two companies’ businesses.
In November of this year, ADNOC Gas announced its intention to acquire ADNOC’s 60% stake in the Ruwais LNG project at a cost price estimated at 18 billion dirhams in the second half of 2028. Once work is completed, the project will contribute, through two liquefied natural gas liquefaction lines, each with a capacity of 4.8 million metric tons annually and a total capacity of 9.6 million metric tons annually, to more than double the company’s capacity to produce liquefied natural gas, to 15 million tons.
