“Jeddah Book” reviews the types of journalistic writing and the impact of technologies on them
Today, Monday, the Jeddah Book Fair 2024 witnessed, as part of its cultural program, a workshop entitled “Journalistic Writing,” in the presence of a number of journalists, university students, and creative journalistic writing enthusiasts.
The workshop began by introducing the concept of journalistic writing, which is concerned with conveying basic information about events in a concise and effective manner, with the aim of conveying the message to the recipient quickly and accurately, its fundamental difference from other types of writing, and its main features such as objectivity, reliance on facts, and simple language.
In-depth analytical vision
The workshop reviewed the most prominent types of journalistic writing, including the press report, which provides an in-depth analytical vision that addresses the event or issue by adding new dimensions and backgrounds.
With the presentation of diverse points of view to clarify the context and its role, which delves into thorny issues, which require more effort and time, while adhering to accuracy and depth.
While the newspaper article gives the writer a space to express his opinion in a special way, based on arguments and evidence.
Technical developments on the press
The workshop also addressed the impact of technical developments on journalism, and the fundamental changes that occurred in writing with the emergence of social media.
She criticized the lack of reliability when practicing journalism through these platforms, and warned of the impact of artificial intelligence on creativity, and the emergence of new platforms based on artificial intelligence technologies, which may reshape the concept of journalistic writing in the future.
