The Minister of Human Resources reviews the preparations of the construction sites to prevent thermal stress

Dubai, June 13/ WAM/ His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Al -Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, briefed on the preparations taken in one of the construction sites in Dubai to implement the “Labor Prohibition at noon”, which enters into force on Sunday and is prohibited to perform work under the sun and in open places from 12:30 pm until the afternoon after afternoon per day, until September 15th.

His Excellency, accompanied by a number of the ministry’s leaders, listened to a detailed explanation from Tariq Khanasah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Khandesh Civil Engineering Company, on the company’s sustainable initiatives for workers and the procedures it takes to provide a work environment that meets the standards and requirements of occupational health and safety, especially in terms of providing a place for workers ’rest during the period of“ prohibition of work at noon ”and providing it with cooling devices and cold water, and other means That guarantee their health safety, comfort and happiness.

His Excellency praised the pioneering initiatives implemented by the company, and its distinguished experience in the areas of social responsibility, praising the pivotal role that private sector companies in the country play by enhancing the competitiveness and leadership of the labor market in the country.

And participated in the field visit, “Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank”, “Aster Medical Group” and “The National Foodstuff Company”, which provided services to workers and conducted medical examinations for workers in the company and educating them about the methods of preventing thermal exhaustion.

The application of “Labor Banning at noon” for the 21st year in a row comes from a sustainable methodology that the UAE applies in the context of its keenness to provide a safe work environment that responds to the best practices and requirements of occupational health and safety in order to avoid the workforce by injuries and damages that may result from work in high temperatures during the summer months.

The “ban” requires companies to provide shaded places for workers during times of stopping at noon, protecting them from thermal stress resulting from exposure to sunlight during their practice of business, securing appropriate cooling tools, and providing sufficient quantities of water to avoid dehydration caused by fluid deficiency in the body, first aid equipment in workplace, and other amenities.
