Partnership between "Holding" And a Korean company for shrimp farming and production in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, December 19 / WAM / ADQ Holding announced the conclusion of a partnership agreement with the emerging South Korean company “Aqua Development”, which specializes in aquaculture technologies, with the aim of studying the possibility of establishing a shrimp breeding farm on a land area and within the climatic conditions in the Emirates by developing a facility. Pilot to test new agricultural systems and patented sustainable solutions.
The half-hectare pilot facility is co-financed by the Growth Laboratory Holding Fund, which includes a vibrant community of innovators and focuses on taking advantage of growth opportunities and creating value through research, development and innovation.
The facility will be located within the Kizad area, specifically designed to meet the needs of the aquaculture sector, as it includes specialized infrastructure and facilities for this purpose.
Under the agreement, the two companies will evaluate the possibility of farming shrimp, one of the most popular seafood in the world, in a land-based area using innovative aquatic biological solutions to mimic the natural environment of shrimp.
This method helps raise shrimp more efficiently compared to traditional farming methods that require a large number of labor and achieve low-cost production rates. Modern systems that use advanced filtration techniques to recycle water also require large investments.
Aqua Development’s natural and patented solutions contribute to reducing costs and increasing productivity by up to ten times compared to traditional and modern systems.
If the pilot phase is successful, it is expected that production will be expanded significantly, thus constituting an important step in the efforts of local shrimp production in the UAE.
