"Abu Dhabi Ports" Inaugurate "Noatom Ports – Ayla Digital Solutions Section" In Jordan
Aqaba, June 18, 2017 – Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced today the launch of operations of “Noatum Ports – Maqta Ayla Digital Solutions”, a joint project between the group and the Aqaba Development Company, in a step that contributes to consolidating Aqaba’s position as a leading commercial and logistics center in the region, and supporting economic development plans in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The joint project was established under the umbrella of “Noatom Ports”, the group’s arm for operating international ports, under an agreement concluded with the Aqaba Development Company to develop and operate the digital port community system. The project aims to enhance digital integration and facilitate the exchange of information between users of the port and container terminal, the relevant authorities, stakeholders, and all stakeholders, in a way that contributes to raising the efficiency of operational and logistical processes in the city of Aqaba.
The company is also implementing a project to manage truck movement in the ports of Aqaba, by employing advanced digital solutions that link relevant parties through a unified digital window, which contributes to simplifying procedures, accelerating the issuance of the necessary permits, enhancing the flow of logistical movement, and raising the efficiency of services provided in the city.
The launch of the company’s operations was announced during a ceremony held in the city of Aqaba, in the presence of His Excellency Shadi Ramzi Al-Majali, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority; His Excellency Hussein Al-Safadi, CEO of the Aqaba Development Company, and Mohammed Al-Tamimi, CEO of “Noatum Ports” at Abu Dhabi Ports Group, in addition to stakeholders and partners from both sides.
His Excellency Shadi Al-Majali, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, said: “The launch of ‘Noatum Ports – Maqta Ayla Digital Solutions’ represents a practical embodiment of our vision to make Aqaba an integrated digital logistics gateway on the Red Sea, and a testimony to the depth of the strategic partnership between Jordan and the sisterly United Arab Emirates. In February of this year, the group concluded a 30-year concession agreement with the Aqaba Development Company to manage and operate the multi-purpose port of Aqaba. The group also announced the opening of the Aqaba Cruise Ship Terminal in January 2023.
In January 2025, Abu Dhabi Ports Group appointed MAG Holding Company as the main developer to implement the first phase of the “Marsa Zayed” project, which extends over an area of 3.2 million square metres. The project will contribute to strengthening Aqaba’s position as a regional commercial and tourism center, and a gateway for visitors coming to the Red Sea region. The group also announced in February 2025 that it had concluded a contract to manage and operate the Madouna Customs Center in Amman, with the Jordanian Customs Department, with the aim of simplifying cross-border trade and enhancing the efficiency of the supply chain.
