The UAE Embassy in Muscat organizes a symposium on "Empowering women"

The symposium addressed a number of important topics regarding women’s empowerment efforts in the two countries, and reviewed women’s achievements in all fields in the two countries.

Aisha Al Mansouri, Deputy Director of the Human Rights Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke about the country’s efforts to empower women, noting that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” pays special attention to empowering women and supporting related initiatives. Empowering women is an essential part of the state’s vision for national development, as it is a pivotal element in building the future of the nation and contributing to the development of society.

Al Mansouri stressed that the UAE Constitution guarantees equal rights for both women and men, and the country also leads many regional and global indicators with regard to women’s empowerment, and has enacted many laws and regulations that enshrine women’s rights, all of which were focused on promoting their rights. During the three years In the past, the state has issued more than 20 new legislation and legal amendments to empower women and protect their rights.

For her part, Her Excellency Hanan Mansour Ahli, Director of the Single Center for Competitiveness and Statistics at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, member of the Emirates Council for Gender Balance and representative of the General Women’s Union of the UAE, reviewed the government efforts in supporting the gender balance file, enhancing the role of regulations and systems for business sectors, and the performance of the government sector in State, and increasing opportunities for economic empowerment for women in the UAE. It also reviewed the UAE’s achievements in the field of gender balance, and stressed that they reflect a wise vision and political will that believes in the importance of empowering women in achieving development. Social and economic progress and prosperity.

Regarding the empowerment of Emirati women in parliamentary assemblies, Her Excellency Afra Al Basti, Assistant Secretary-General for Parliamentary Liaison in the Federal National Council, touched on the reality of Emirati women, especially in the field of parliamentary representation, noting that the Council of Ministers of the UAE government includes 9 female ministers, representing 27%. The representation rate of women in the Federal National Council is 50%.

Saud bin Saleh Al Maawali, Vice Chairman of the Omani Human Rights Commission, reviewed the history of women’s empowerment in the Sultanate of Oman, stressing the importance of employing all human energies in Gulf societies, and investing in the current period of prosperity in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to empower women in all fields, as all… Gulf countries with women’s potential, based on the developments witnessed by the Gulf countries, contributed to improving the status of women and giving them the opportunity to prove themselves during the last thirty years.

Her Excellency Intisar bint Abdullah Al-Wahaibiyya, Director General of the Statistical Center for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, discussed a number of statistics related to the development of the role of Gulf women, especially Emirati and Omani women, in public fields. She pointed out the high rates of representation of Gulf women in public jobs, and praised the efforts of the State. The UAE is concerned with that file, considering that what Emirati women have witnessed in recent decades represents an important achievement at the national and Gulf levels.

Aida bint Nasser Al-Siyabiyah, Assistant Director of the Department of Women’s Affairs at the General Directorate of Family Development in the Sultanate of Oman, indicated that the Ministry is making great efforts to empower and care for Omani women, and has demonstrated through a number of statistics that there is a significant development in the role of women in the Sultanate of Oman.

She also discussed the Ministry’s efforts to care for and advance some groups of women, noting that the Ministry has adopted policies related to expanding women’s presence in the field of owning and managing small and medium enterprises, in addition to enhancing the empowerment of Omani women in many fields.

The symposium included the organization of a number of segments, where the attendees watched a visual presentation on women’s empowerment in the UAE and the great interest that the state attaches to the issue of women’s empowerment in the public and private fields. The symposium also witnessed interventions from guests that addressed a number of topics related to the issue of women’s empowerment.
