11 countries announce their participation in the regional equestrian competition for the Special Olympics

Cairo, August 4/ WAM/ The International Special Olympics for the Middle East and North Africa, announced the participation of a group of special Olympics players with intellectual disabilities, representing 11 countries, in the regional equestrian competition for the Special Olympics for the Middle East and North Africa, from August 24 to 28, in the Al Ain region.
The International Special Olympics for the Middle East and North Africa region revealed in a statement today, the details of the event, the accompanying events, the approval of the participation of the Emirates, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Iraq, Tunisia, Bahrain and Iran.
The UAE Special Olympics event, in cooperation with the International Special Olympics for the Middle East and North Africa, is organized under the auspices of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and with the support of the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police as a host partner, and the Emirates Equestrian Federation as a supportive partner for the competition.
Engineer Ayman Abdel Wahab, the regional head of the International Special Olympics of the Middle East and North Africa, said that the event that is held for the first time is a pivotal point and a qualitative step, with what the equestrian represents, among the most prominent inclusive sports models, for the elite of the Special Olympics players with intellectual disabilities from 11 special Olympics programs.
He pointed out that the competition includes various activities that represent the “English ride”, with the participation of 36 players, and jumping on the barriers, and the presence of 12 players and players, and the winding path in the form of “8”, and the participation of 37 players was approved, and control and taming with the participation of 22 players, in safe environments that highlight the capabilities of all participants.
He stated that there are many events in conjunction with the event, including a regional training course, for the coaches of the participating countries, and players with intellectual disabilities, in preparation for preparing them as assistants for coaches, in addition to their peers whose countries have not had opportunities to participate, with the aim of developing technical cadres for equestrian sport, with the participation of 30 trainees from 12 countries.
He also noted the establishment of the “Health Players” program, to provide health awareness and fitness for the participants, in addition to those who were invited to attend the events, as well as community activities targeting families and local society, with the aim of enhancing awareness of integration issues.
