«UAEV» approves charging tariffs for electric vehicles

The Emirates Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Company (UAEV), the first vehicle charging network wholly owned by the UAE government, announced the adoption of the electric vehicle charging tariff proposed by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, finally, with it starting in January 2025. This tariff constitutes an important step to support… Sustainability and expansion of the charging network, noting that electric vehicle charging services have remained free since the tariff was first announced last May.

Unified and transparent charging fees will be applied to users of electric vehicles, starting from January 2025, as the tariff was set at 1.2 dirhams/kWh, in addition to value-added tax for charging operations using direct current, and 0.70 dirhams/kWh and value-added tax for charging operations using Alternating current.

UAEV seeks to enhance the experience of driving electric vehicles by launching its mobile application, which provides practical features such as easy search for charging stations, monitoring the status of stations directly, and making payments smoothly.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Company, Engineer Sherif Al Olama, said that the launch of the unified charging tariff and innovative smart solutions such as the mobile phone application represents a pioneering step in the UAE’s journey towards achieving sustainable mobility.

He explained that the UAEV network will include 1,000 charging stations strategically distributed across urban centers, highways, and major transportation points within the Emirates, while the main locations will cover all the emirates of the country, to ensure comprehensive access for electric vehicle users both between and within cities.
