Dubai Roads completes the expansion at the intersection of Omar Bin Al Khattab and Al Maktoum Streets

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has completed the traffic expansion work on the intersection of Omar Bin Al Khattab Street and Al Maktoum Street, with a length of 500 metres, by adding a free lane for vehicles coming from the Clock Roundabout towards Al Khaleej Street, and adding a lane for those coming from Al Khaleej Street to the Omar Bin Al Khattab intersection and towards the roundabout. hour, and increasing the storage space for the free lane for vehicles coming from Al Khaleej Street to Omar Bin Al Khattab Intersection towards Naif Street. These works come within the authority’s strategy to enhance the operational capacity of roads, improve the flow of vehicle movement and the safety of road users in the emirate, in a way that serves its strategy of achieving global leadership in easy and sustainable transportation. The Authority indicated that the traffic improvements serve vehicle owners and visitors in the areas surrounding the Omar Bin Al Khattab Street intersection, by increasing traffic efficiency, increasing capacity by 20%, and reducing the average delay time by 47% from 160 seconds to 75 seconds during the evening peak times. During the implementation of traffic expansion works, the Authority maintained the operational efficiency of the intersection in accordance with the highest international standards and practices, in addition to ensuring the safety of its users, including vehicle owners and pedestrians, and reducing congestion and waiting for vehicles during its completion stages.
