A researcher from the UAE University registers an invention in wind energy and drones

Al Ain, December 26 / WAM / Dr. Zeeshan Akhtar, from the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at the College of Engineering at the UAE University, has achieved a prominent scientific achievement by obtaining four new patents, in the field of wind energy technology, aeroacoustics, and drones. This represents a qualitative shift in the renewable energy sector and urban solutions that aims to address pressing global challenges, such as providing clean energy efficiently and effectively, and reducing noise pollution in urban areas.

These achievements come within the framework of the university’s efforts to enhance research and development in the field of sustainable energy and achieve its environmental goals, and include a patent for the self-adaptive variable tip fan blade for wind turbines, which enhances energy capture and improves voltage handling across variable wind speeds; This design allows automatic adjustment according to variables in wind speed and direction, which promotes improved performance without complex control systems.

Dr. Akhtar was able to invent and register a new patent on the “Dynamic Wing Unit with Negative Variable Air Passage Cover,” which is a new technology that improves aerodynamic efficiency by adapting airflow, enhancing smooth and efficient energy conversion even in changing conditions, as well as a “turbine blade.” Wind Purifier”, which integrates clean energy generation with environmental remediation by filtering the ambient air as the blade rotates, further improving air quality.

In the field of aeroacoustics research, Akhtar was able to register a new patent in inventing a platform for the take-off and landing of unmanned aerial vehicles (Drones), which works to reduce the noise resulting from ground impact during the landing and take-off of drones, which provides a particularly valuable solution for urban environments, and addresses Growing concerns about noise pollution resulting from increased drone operations, enhances compatibility with landscape, and populated urban areas.

Dr. Zeeshan Akhtar said that these patents are the result of the efforts of a distinguished work team, expressing his aspiration that they will contribute to building a more sustainable and efficient future, and to developing renewable energy technology with specialized research teams in the United Arab Emirates.

He added that he has been interested in developing wind energy technology and drones for many years, and that he looks forward to working with industrial partners to market these technologies on a large scale and contribute to achieving the UAE’s goals in the field of sustainability.
