Kuwait, December 26 / WAM / Our national football team will meet its Omani counterpart, at 6.30 pm tomorrow, Friday, in the final round of the group stage of the Arabian Gulf Cup “Khaleeji Zain 26”, within the first group at Jaber Al Mubarak Stadium.
At the same time, another match will be held between the Kuwaiti and Qatari teams at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, to decide the two qualification tickets to the semi-finals.
The Kuwaiti and Omani teams share the top spot in the group with 4 points each, while our national team and its Qatari counterpart have one point.
Our national team is looking forward to winning tomorrow by a difference of two goals to ensure passage to the next round with the advantage of direct confrontations, or winning by a goal difference, and resorting to the tournament regulations.
The tournament regulations stipulate that if two or more teams are tied in the number of points, then the goal difference against the tied teams (direct confrontations) is used, then the largest number of goals scored in the matches between the tied teams, then the goal difference in all tournament matches (number of points). Goals scored minus goals that entered the national team’s goal, up to the Fair Play Law (warnings).
Our national team trained at the Yarmouk Sports Club 24 hours after the match against the Kuwaiti team, led by Portuguese Paulo Bento. The training included recovery and warm-up exercises, before concluding the preparation phase for facing Oman and developing the appropriate game plan.
