Zelensky announces sending food aid to Syria

On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the sending of the first batch of food aid to Syria.

Zelensky said in a post on his page on the “X” platform, “500 tons of wheat flour are already on their way to Syria, within the framework of the humanitarian (Grains from Ukraine) initiative in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Program.”“.

Zelensky stated, “Wheat flour is scheduled to be distributed to more than 33,000 families, or 167,000 people, in the coming weeks.”“.

He added: “The weight of each package is 15 kilograms, and it can feed a family of 5 people for a month“.

After the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, Ukraine said it wanted to restore relations with Damascus, which imported food from Moscow..

But Russian and Syrian sources said earlier that Russian wheat supplies to Syria were suspended due to uncertainty.
