In pictures: “Culture” concludes the 2024 Year of the Camel initiative and honors partners

The Ministry of Culture celebrated the conclusion of the Year of the Camel 2024 initiative, and honored the partners who contributed to supporting the goals of the Year of Culture.
The Undersecretary for Institutional Communications, Saleh bin Sulaiman Al-Shubaili, said that the initiative of the Year of the Camel 2024 came with pride and pride in an authentic component of our Saudi and Arab culture, and with the guidance and support of the wise leadership – may God support it -.

Strengthening the status of camels

He pointed out that it aimed to enhance the status of camels, their value, their great cultural role, and their economic contribution, as a cultural icon that represents Saudi identity and reflects its authentic values.
He explained that the Ministry of Culture launched the initiative to consolidate this position, in light of the essential position that cultural sectors enjoy in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, thanking the various parties participating in the initiative.

At its beginning, the ceremony witnessed a visual display of a camel shoe – one of the Saudi cultural elements registered in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
This is in addition to a visual presentation that tells the story of the Year of the Camel 2024 and the efforts made by the Ministry and its partners in this cultural year, in addition to honoring the sponsors and partners of the Year of the Camel 2024 initiative from the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Year of the Camel 2024 initiative

The ceremony came as the last stop of the closing festival of the 2024 Camel Year, which was organized by the Ministry of Culture over a period of three days.
It included a variety of events and activities that celebrated camels and highlighted their value in Saudi culture, amid a large presence from various segments of society.
The Ministry of Culture launched the Year of the Camel 2024 initiative at the beginning of this year to celebrate camels as an element of the Saudi cultural identity.

Cultural events and activities

It witnessed the organization of many cultural events and activities locally and internationally, all of which celebrate camels and their associated culture and heritage.
This came at a ceremony held in Leeson Valley in Riyadh, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Institutional Communication, Saleh bin Sulaiman Al-Shubaili, and the Undersecretary for National Partnerships and Capacity Development, Noha bint Saeed Qattan.
The Undersecretary for Cultural Events and Festivals, Mai Bint Obaid Al-Rasheed, and a group of leaders in the cultural system also attended.
