Two people were injured when a small plane failed to land at Stuttgart Airport

In a failed landing accident of a small plane at Stuttgart Airport in southwestern Germany, two people were injured, the pilot and a passenger.
Air traffic was suspended at the airport for about an hour and a half, according to police.
She added that teams from the fire service, rescue service and police participated in a large-scale emergency operation.

An accident in dense fog

The airport reported that the plane crash occurred in heavy fog, and police said the 77-year-old pilot attempted to land the single-engine plane in bad weather conditions on Sunday afternoon.
The police added that during the attempt, the plane broke through the wall of the eastern runway and stopped after a few meters.

Police explained that the pilot was slightly injured, while the 70-year-old passenger was seriously injured.

Suspension of air operations

The airport announced the suspension of air operations between approximately 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and that the incident led to delays in take-off and landing flights, and the diversion of several flights.
The police stated that the airport fire service participated with 11 vehicles and 23 personnel, while the rescue service participated with 7 vehicles and 15 personnel.
She added that the airport police station began investigating the accident site, and that experts from the Federal Authority to Investigate Aviation Accidents were summoned.
