American meteorology expects strong, destructive storms and winds to continue

Strong storms are expected to continue moving across the Southeast, causing “strong and damaging winds,” said Frank Pereira, a meteorologist with the US National Weather Service.
A severe storm system threatens to cause tornadoes in parts of the southeastern United States on Sunday.
This comes after stormy weather resulted in the deaths of at least two people as a result of tornadoes that struck Texas and Mississippi.

Strong storms in America

Pereira explained that the line of stormy weather has so far led to about 40 reports of tornadoes from southeastern Texas to Alabama, but these reports remain unconfirmed until a damage survey is conducted.
“This is not unprecedented, but it is fairly uncommon for a severe weather outbreak of this magnitude to occur this late in the year,” he added.
He pointed out that the storms will continue to move eastward until they move away from land, which means that the risks of severe weather will diminish by Sunday evening.

Multiple deaths and damage

Yesterday, Saturday, a person died in the Liverpool area, south of Houston, Texas.
Four people also sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to Madison Polston of the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office.
There were “several landfall points” for the tornado in the county between Liverpool, Hillcrest Village and Alvin.
Madison Polston explained that officials were aware of about 10 damaged homes, but they were working to determine the exact extent of the damage.

Tornadoes hit the southeastern United States, snow storms and strong winds hit the West Coast.
It led to the delay and cancellation of thousands of flights during the holiday season in a number of American states.
The National Weather Service and local law enforcement agencies reported that at least 10 tornadoes struck the southeastern states of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi on Saturday, killing one person near Houston.
Winds as strong as 150 mph hit the high elevations of California’s Lake Tahoe Basin and 50 mph at lower elevations in the region recently with heavy rain expected from San Francisco to Portland, Oregon.
