DUBAI, 1st JANUARY / WAM / The Dubai International Marine Sports Club announced that American Sean Torrenti and Finnish Elek Wikstrom have joined the Victory Team, to participate in the Formula 1 World Powerboat Championship.
American racer Sean Torrenti, who won the world title three times in 2018, 2019 and 2022, will join Finnish racer Elek Wikstrom, forming a distinguished duo with Emirati champion Ahmed Abdul Karim Al Fahim, who is preparing to compete in his third consecutive season with the team in the World Powerboat Championships.
The contracts were signed with the new duo at Victory’s management headquarters in Jebel Ali, in the presence of Mohammed Abdullah Hareb Al Falahi, Board Member and Executive Director of the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, and Ahmed Ali Al Sumaiti, Victory’s Managing Director.
Sean Torrenti previously had a successful experience with the Victorian team after officially joining it in 2015, where his experience extended over three seasons (2015, 2016, 2017) during which he achieved many achievements.
As for Finnish Elik Wikstrom, he is considered one of the rising talents in the World Powerboat Championships, as he participated in the 2021 and 2022 seasons and achieved fifth and fourth places, respectively.
Ahmed Ali Al Sumaiti, Director of the Victory Department at the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, confirmed that this step comes within the framework of the great ambitions of the team that seeks to participate in the 2025 World Championship with a new look, aiming to achieve outstanding achievements and win the world title.
