Valencia faces European competition to include Mustafa Schubert after his brilliance against “El Matador”
Media reports revealed that Spanish club Valencia is seeking to strengthen its goalkeeping position during the next season, with Egyptian international goalkeeper Mostafa Schubert among the team’s main options, in a move aimed at rearranging the club’s cards in this vital position.
The website reports estadiodeportivo The Valencia administration decided not to activate the option to buy goalkeeper Julen Agirzabala from Athletic Bilbao for 12 million euros, as the player will return to the ranks of his original club, while the contract of current goalkeeper Stoll Dimitrievski will be renewed to be the mainstay of goalkeeping. At the same time, the club is seeking an additional goalkeeper with specific specifications, and Schubert’s name has emerged as a suitable option in line with the administration’s financial austerity policy.
The On Time Sports channel continued that Valencia is closely monitoring Schubert, especially after his remarkable brilliance in the last friendly match against the Spanish national team, where he was able to keep a clean sheet thanks to his heroic saves, which earned him the attention of European clubs.
This interest comes in the context of the transfer market, as Schubert’s contract with Al-Ahly club is close to expiring on June 30, 2027, which prompted the Egyptian club’s management to market him early to avoid his departure for free, especially since his current level qualifies him to play professionally in Europe.
It is noteworthy that Schubert was also offered to other Spanish clubs such as Getafe and Almeria, but Valencia’s interest appears to be the most serious to compensate for the departure of Aguirzabala, and to complete the team’s roster with additional local goalkeepers such as Severa and Escandel.
