The profession of coffee cultivation in Rijal Almaa Governorate has returned to the forefront of the economic scene in the Asir region, and to the interest of farmers who revived some old farms that were famous for growing and marketing coffee.
The CEO of the Coffee Cooperative Society in Rijal Alma Governorate, Ali Abdullah Sayyad, explained that in recent years, the people in the governorate have revived several old farms, worked to develop them and use modern methods of cultivation, and their number has so far reached 286 farms containing 93,082 trees, of which 63,328 trees produce fruit-bearing coffee. About 33,216 kilos of coffee annually.

Training and qualifying farmers

According to Sayyad, the association provides many awareness programs for farmers and workshops through specialized agricultural engineers, who work to train and qualify farmers, enhance their capabilities in growing coffee using modern methods, and maximize the quality of coffee crops on the governorate’s farms.

He explained that the association provides farmers with fertilizers, equipment, integrated irrigation systems, and agricultural tools, such as shovels, plows, hoes, hoes, and all digging machines.
This is within the framework of continuous support for the success of agricultural activities so that they contribute to supporting the economy of the governorate and the Kingdom in general, in light of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision to shift from pastoralism to development.
