The Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States (FBI) clarified on Thursday that the death toll announced by the authorities for the ramming attack carried out on Wednesday night in New Orleans, at 15 people, also includes the suspect.

FBI official Christopher Raya said during a media briefing: “There were 14 dead and the attacker himself, meaning 15 dead in total.”

The suspect in carrying out the attack, which the police are treating as a “terrorist act,” is Shams al-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old American citizen from Texas who previously served in the army and was sent to Afghanistan.
