Cyprus: Inflation rate rises to its highest levels in 6 months

Data from the Cyprus Statistics Office released today, Thursday, showed a sharp rise in consumer prices over the past month, reaching their highest level in 6 months, mainly due to rising food prices.

High price index

The Census Bureau stated that the consumer price index rose by 2.6% last December, compared to 1.5% in November, reaching its highest level since last June, when it recorded 2.9%.
Beverages and beverages rose last month by 7.58%, while prices for restaurant and hotel services rose by 4.37% annually.

At the same time, the prices of clothing and shoes fell by 2.64%, which was the largest decline among the commodity categories that make up the index, and on a monthly basis, the inflation rate reached 0.1%.
At the same time, the Statistics Office stated that the inflation rate in Cyprus during the past year as a whole reached 1.81%, compared to 3.53% during the previous year, falling to its lowest levels in 4 years.
