Sharjah, January 3, 2017 – The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival launched the “Startup Showcase” competition, with the aim of supporting innovative ideas and pioneering solutions for emerging projects, allocating financial prizes of up to 200 thousand dirhams for distinguished projects, in addition to financing opportunities of up to 500 thousand dirhams from… Investors and travel opportunities provided by “Air Arabia”.
The competition targets ambitious startups from all over the world, with applications open until January 26 for entrepreneurs and business owners working in four main tracks: education technology, sustainability, creative industries, technology, and industry 4.0, at the following link: .
The festival revealed that 16 projects will be selected from among the applicants to participate in the final qualifiers, where distinguished entrepreneurs will compete, and the winning solutions will be presented before a committee of arbitrators and investors, during the festival’s activities on February 1 and 2.
The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center – Sheraa organizes the competition in partnership with the “1Tank” initiative of the “1trepreneur” group and is designed as a showcase competition for high-risk startups, where companies can present their innovative ideas to a group of investors to obtain immediate financing.
Her Excellency Sarah Abdul Aziz Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center “Sheraa”, said that the competition comes within the framework of Sheraa’s vision to support innovative entrepreneurs who seek to develop their projects and achieve a real impact in various fields, as the center aims to empower creative people and provide resources. necessary to transform their ideas into implementable projects.
For his part, Jimmy James, co-founder of 1trepreneur, said that the partnership with Sheraa enhances the supportive environment for entrepreneurship in the region, and through the competition the company provides a qualitative opportunity to support innovative startups and open new horizons in the world of business.
The competition allocates a financial prize of 50,000 dirhams to each of its four tracks. The “Education Technology Track”, supported by “Crescent Enterprises”, is directed at startup companies aiming to enhance the education system through innovative solutions, while the “Technology and Industry 4.0 Track” targets. , supported by “du”, introduces advanced concepts that revolutionize industries, and under the sponsorship of Emaar, the “Sustainability Track” targets companies that deal with environmental challenges, while the “Creative Industries Track”, supported by… “Emirates” projects aimed at achieving a renaissance in the creative industries, art and design through innovation.
The best projects from each category will be selected during the qualifiers, and the winning companies will present their solutions to a group of influential leaders and investors in the sector during an honoring ceremony held at the festival.
The festival witnesses a comprehensive program of events in which more than 300 international speakers participate in 10 designated areas and 5 platforms.
