Surveillance cameras revealed the accused… Beware of this behavior in Dubai

The Dubai Misdemeanor Court convicted a 51-year-old Asian man of seizing lost money with the intention of owning it. He found a sum of money amounting to 14,000 dirhams that had fallen from its owner while he was riding in the car in a parking lot in the Deira area. Instead of handing it over to the police, he gave it to another person who saw it. 3000 dirhams, and he kept the rest of the amount for himself, but it was revealed by surveillance cameras.
The victim said in the Public Prosecution’s investigations that he got into his car from the parking lot around three o’clock in the evening on the day of the incident, and realized that he had lost the money, so he returned to the place, and met an Asian person who had 3,000 dirhams of the money in his possession.
He added that he informed the police, reviewed the surveillance cameras, and saw the accused picking up the money from the ground, and the police were able to identify him and arrest him.
When he was questioned during the Public Prosecution’s investigations, the accused admitted that he was in the situation and found an amount of 6,000 dirhams, from which he bought a travel ticket for 2,400 dirhams, and the rest of the amount was still in his possession, but he denied the charge against him when he appeared before the court.
After examining the case, the court decided that it was established that the accused seized lost money owned by others, which was 11 thousand dirhams, after he found it on the ground, and ruled to fine him 5,000 dirhams for the charge against him and the 11 thousand dirhams that he seized.
