Thwarting a terrorist attack in western Russia

Russian security services managed to thwart a terrorist attack in the city of Yekaterinburg, west of the country.

The Russian Federal Security Service announced in a statement carried by the Interfax news agency that four Russian citizens, born in 2007 and 2008, planned to detonate explosive devices in a crowded place in the city of Yekaterinburg in the Sverdlovsk province, and that two of the detainees planned to burn a car belonging to the Ministry of the Interior.

The statement added that components of an explosive device were found at the defendants’ place of residence, in addition to communications equipment containing instructions for its manufacture.
