Berlin Airport intends to reduce arrival flights by half… for this reason

The German capital Berlin Airport decided to reduce the number of landings by half, starting at five in the afternoon (local time) as a precautionary measure, due to expectations of freezing rain.
An airport spokeswoman said that only about 20 planes would be allowed to land per hour instead of 40 planes.

Weather conditions in Germany

She indicated that this procedure aims to ensure that aircraft preparation operations proceed safely.
The spokeswoman noted that weather conditions may also lead to delays.
The spokeswoman added that airlines are the ones who decide which flights will be carried out.

Heavy snowfall

She said she advises all passengers to contact airlines to inquire about their flights.
On the other hand, the spokeswoman confirmed that travel will not be affected by these restrictions.
Heavy snowfall causes disruptions to transport traffic in England and Germany on Sunday, with airports closed for temporary periods, and flights canceled or delayed.

Snowfall hinders airport traffic

Many airports in Germany were also forced earlier to modify flight schedules due to heavy snowfall and rain.
Frankfurt Airport authorities, the largest in the country, confirmed the cancellation of 120 flights out of about 1,090 scheduled for Sunday.
A spokesman for the airport authorities stated, “Snow must be removed from the take-off and landing runways,” and the process of “defrosting aircraft also becomes more complex and demanding.”
